Hi Fused Chicago,
Last year I curated a space for the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, here is Chicago in the Logan Square Neighborhood. I produced an exhibit called "Logan Square Connections" Well, I'm doing
it again, only this year my theme is Near and Dear to my heart, yes, it's an Encaustic show going to be titled very simply just "WAX". The festival is in it's early years, so it still has a kind of grassroots "hey kids lets put on a show" feel to it. There will also be music and other art forms presented during the three day festival along with open studios. There will be other opportunities for exhibiting that will be announced soon, as well.
The dates are July 23 to July 25, Fri: 4-11, Sat/Sun 12-11.

We still do not have a space assigned to us but it will be in either a business, or empty storefront along Milwaukee Ave. somewhere between California and Fullerton Ave. ( Close to then new Revolution Brewery here in Logan Square)
If you are interested in getting a form to submit to the exhibit, e-mail me at f.michalski@sbcglobal.net and I will send you the form. It will also be up on the Milwaukee Ave. Arts Festival Website sometime early next week ,and I will try to post the link. I hope to see some good representation from Fused Chicago Members.

  2. Hi Yvonne,
Are you wanting to find out more info about Fused Chicago in general? If so I can direct you to Shelly Gilchrist, who started the blog last year. In my view,we are rather a loose affiliation of encaustic artists. We've had some face to face meetings and studio visits and a couple of exhibits. In many ways, the group is still in the process of finding our" mission" Membership is very open, so far.

If you want to find out more about the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, which was the subject of my post, you can look on the website:www.milwaukeeavenueartsfestival.org

Your three dimensional work is very interesting!

  3. Thanks Jane,
I did send an email to Shelly, but didn't hear from her yet. I'll be back in WI at the end of May.
